Oras na, S.B. 3308 Ipasa na! Freedom of Information Act Now!
Congress is at the threshold of passing a progressive Freedom of Information Act. In May 2008, the House of Representatives approved on third reading its counterpart legislation (House Bill 3732). The Senate counterpart version (Senate Bill 3308) has entered its period of interpellation.
But the time left for the 14th Congress to pass the law is fast running out. From November 9, we count only 23 session days before Congress takes the long break for elections beginning February 5, 2010. If the bill is to pass, the Senate needs to complete the period of interpellation and amendments, and pass Senate Bill 3308 on second and third reading within the November session days.
Join us on Monday, November 9 in asking the Senate to heed our call. We will assemble at 1:30 p.m. at the Manila Film Center, CCP Complex in Manila before marching to the Senate to express our demand.
